What is home cleaning in Alexandria?
Home cleaning in Alexandria is the regular domestic cleaning of houses, terraces, apartments and warehouse-conversion homes in Alexandria NSW 2015. Clean Best sends the same named, police-checked cleaner to a home every visit rather than rotating cleaners between jobs.
Many Alexandria homes are converted industrial buildings, which means polished or sealed concrete floors, exposed brick walls, mezzanine bedrooms and large areas of glazing. Clean Best cleans concrete with a neutral-pH detergent only, because alkaline cleaners strip the seal, and dusts exposed brick with a soft brush rather than washing it, because wet brick can bloom salt on the face as it dries.
Clean Best carries $20m public liability insurance and workers compensation, and documents each home’s access arrangement in writing rather than by informal message.

Home cleaning Alexandria
Your home is made of three materials that punish a generic cleaner
There is a reason so many people in Alexandria have been through three cleaning companies in two years, and it is not that cleaners are lazy. It is that a warehouse conversion is made of materials that a domestic cleaning round is not equipped for, and nobody tells the cleaner that before they arrive with a bottle of general-purpose spray and the best of intentions.
Home cleaning in Alexandria means, for a great many houses here, cleaning three surfaces that a suburban home simply does not have: a polished concrete slab, an exposed brick wall, and glass where a wall should be. Each of them is the reason people fell in love with the place. Each of them is also a way to do expensive, slow, invisible damage with a completely ordinary product.
The slab: the seal is the whole thing
Your polished concrete floor is not concrete, functionally. It is a seal, with concrete underneath it. The seal is doing all the work — it is what makes the floor wipeable, what makes it shine, and what stops it absorbing everything that lands on it. Concrete without a seal is a sponge that happens to be grey.
The strong alkaline cleaners sold for hard floors will thin that seal. Not in one go, and never visibly. Over months, one clean at a time, until one day water stops beading and starts spreading, and after that a glass of red wine on a Friday is a permanent feature of your living room. The fix is a mechanical grind and a fresh seal — a genuinely major job, and vastly more expensive than every cleaning visit that caused it.
Neutral pH, every time. Dust-mop first, because grit under a mop head on polished concrete is sandpaper. And if we can see the seal going — usually first in the kitchen and by the door — we tell you, so you can reseal it while that is still an option.
The brick: do not wash it
The exposed brick wall is the single most photographed thing in an Alexandria conversion, and the single easiest thing to ruin with a bucket of water.
Brick is porous. Wash it and it absorbs the water. As that water evaporates back out it can bring dissolved salts from inside the wall to the surface with it, where they crystallise as a white powdery bloom across the face of the brick. It is called efflorescence, it looks terrible, and it is not something you clean off in an afternoon.
So we dust brick. Soft brush, the courses, the ledges, the mortar lines, where a startling amount of dust accumulates. We do not wet-wash it, and if a previous cleaner did, you will already know, because you will have been looking at the result for months.
The glass: it is a wall, so we clean it like one
Conversions are mostly glass — original factory windows, internal partitions, a stair void, and often an enormous run of glazing across one whole end of the room. It is why the light in these homes is what it is.
A domestic scope that says “windows on request” is a scope written for a house with three windows and a lot of brickwork. In your home the glass is the wall, so it gets cleaned like a wall: internal glazing, frames, handles, and the low band where hands, chairs, bags and — if you have them — dogs leave marks that are invisible to anybody cleaning at eye level and perfectly obvious to anyone sitting down.
The same cleaner, and the reason it matters more here
Everybody in this industry says “the same cleaner every visit” and most of them do not mean it. We do, and in an Alexandria conversion it carries more weight than usual — because there is more to get wrong.
Your cleaner needs to know that the floor gets the neutral product and nothing else. That the brick wall is dusted, never washed. That the mezzanine stairs have a balustrade with an underside that is visible from the living room below. That the vintage light fittings are not to be touched. A stranger arriving cold does not know any of that, and cannot be expected to, which is precisely why a rotating pool of cleaners produces a rotating series of small disasters.
Keys, access, and the thing nobody wants to say out loud
You are giving somebody access to your home while you are not in it. That deserves to be treated properly rather than arranged casually over text.
So the access arrangement is documented in writing — key, lockbox, fob, alarm code, whatever it is — held securely, and used by the same named cleaner every visit. Every Clean Best cleaner is police-checked before their first shift. We carry $20m public liability and workers compensation, and the certificate is available before we start rather than after something has gone wrong. We do not leave keys under mats and we do not circulate alarm codes by message, and a company that does either of those things has told you everything you need to know.
Our depot is at Seven Hills, in western Sydney, and Alexandria is on the other side of the city. We do not publish a drive time we have never measured. Your home goes on a scheduled run with a day and a time band that stay the same week after week, which — when you are arranging your day around a cleaner having been and gone — is worth considerably more than a claim of being local.
The price comes from a free walkthrough of the actual home and arrives as one fixed written figure. Ovens, fridge interiors and inside window work are periodic lines you can add or drop. There is no minimum term.
What's included
What a regular Alexandria home clean covers
A standard visit. The detail items — oven, fridge, windows — sit on a periodic cycle you choose.
- Polished or sealed concrete dust-mopped, then damp-mopped at neutral pH
- Exposed brick soft-brush dusted along the courses, ledges and mortar lines
- Internal glazing, frames, handles and the low band a seated person actually sees
- Kitchen: benches, splashback, sink, taps, cooktop, appliance and cupboard fronts
- Bathrooms: shower, screen, tiles, basin, mirror, toilet, floor, restock
- Mezzanine stairs, treads, handrail and the balustrade underside
- All floors vacuumed, timber and hard floors mopped to their finish
- Beds made or changed, if you leave the linen out
- Dusting throughout: surfaces, shelves, sills, skirtings and switches
- Bins emptied, liners replaced, recycling separated
- Cobwebs, door frames, light switches and the handles people forget
- A final walk-through so the home is left the way you asked for it
Oven cleaning, fridge and freezer interiors, inside window work, balcony washing and carpet extraction are periodic items on a cycle you set, quoted separately so you can see what each costs and add or drop it on its own.
Conversions, specifically
Four things about your home your last cleaner did not know
None of this is obscure knowledge. It is simply not in the standard domestic cleaning playbook, because the standard domestic cleaning playbook was written for a brick-veneer house with carpet, and no part of your home resembles one.
A cleaner who has been told these four things will do a good job in a conversion. One who has not will do slow damage while trying hard, and nobody will notice for a year.
- The slab needs neutral pH, always
- The brick must never be washed
- The balustrade has an underside
- The dust is on the ceiling, in plain view
Four rules for a conversion
- Neutral pH on the slab
- An alkaline cleaner thins the seal invisibly over months. Once it goes, the concrete absorbs every spill permanently and only a grind and reseal fixes it.
- Brick is dusted, not washed
- Wet brick can bloom salt across its face as it dries. A soft brush along the courses and mortar lines is the correct method, and the only one.
- The balustrade underside
- An open mezzanine is designed to be seen from below, which makes the underside of the steel one of the most visible surfaces in the house and the least-cleaned.
- Ceiling-level dust
- With no suspended ceiling, dust collects on exposed beams, ducting and conduit in full view. It runs on a periodic cycle rather than being ignored.
Pricing
An Alexandria home is priced off the home, not off a rate card
Floor area, what the surfaces actually are, how many bathrooms, whether there is a mezzanine, how much glass. A published hourly rate cannot see any of that, so we do not publish one. Free walkthrough, one fixed written figure, no minimum term.
Apartment or small terrace
One or two bedrooms, one bathroom. A conversion apartment, a workers' terrace, or a unit in one of the newer blocks toward Green Square.
- Weekly or fortnightly, on a day and time band that stays the same
- Kitchen, bathroom, floors, dusting and surfaces every visit
- The same cleaner, who learns your home rather than re-learning it
- Concrete and exposed brick handled correctly, not sprayed
Fixed price, in writing, before anyone starts.
Warehouse conversion
The classic Alexandria home: double-height space, polished slab, a brick wall, a mezzanine bedroom and an enormous amount of glass.
- Neutral-pH cleaning on the slab, every visit, without exception
- Mezzanine stairs, treads and the balustrade underside included
- Internal glazing treated as a wall, because it is one
- High-level dusting on an agreed cycle rather than an empty promise
Fixed price, in writing, before anyone starts.
Larger home or whole floor
Three or more bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, or a whole converted floor with a studio or workspace built into it.
- A team where a team is genuinely faster, not to inflate the hours
- Rotating detail work so nothing is on a twelve-month cycle by accident
- Oven, fridge interior and inside-window work available as periodic lines
- Key handling and access documented, never left to a text message
Fixed price, in writing, before anyone starts.

FAQ
Home cleaning in Alexandria: what residents ask
Do I get the same cleaner every time?
Yes. Clean Best assigns one named cleaner to your Alexandria home and that person attends every visit. They learn where things live, which surfaces you are particular about, which door sticks and which cupboard is not to be opened. A rotating pool of strangers in your home is not a service, it is an ongoing inconvenience, and it is why most people who ring us are leaving another company.
How do you clean a polished concrete floor at home?
Clean Best cleans polished and sealed concrete in Alexandria homes with a neutral-pH detergent and nothing else. The seal on that slab is the only thing keeping it from absorbing everything you spill, and the strong alkaline cleaners sold for floors will thin that seal over months until the concrete starts drinking. Once it does, a red wine spill is permanent. We dust-mop first, then damp-mop, and we tell you if the seal is going.
Can you clean exposed brick walls?
Clean Best dusts exposed brick in Alexandria homes with a soft brush — the courses, the ledges, the mortar lines — and does not wet-wash it. Brick is porous: washed brick absorbs water, and when that water evaporates back out it can carry dissolved salt to the surface and leave a white bloom across the face of your feature wall. That is a repair, not a clean, and it is very difficult to undo.
Do you bring your own products and equipment?
Clean Best brings everything needed for your Alexandria home, including the correct neutral-pH product for a concrete slab. If you would rather we use products you have chosen — because of an allergy, a sensitivity, a pet, or simply a preference — we will use yours instead and note it in the job so the same cleaner does not have to be reminded each visit.
Are you insured, and are your cleaners checked?
Clean Best carries $20m public liability and workers compensation for everyone on the roster, and the certificate of currency is available before we start. Every cleaner is police-checked before their first shift. You are handing somebody a key to your home, and the fact that you have to take that seriously is exactly why we make the paperwork available rather than waiting to be asked for it.
What if I am not home?
Most Alexandria clients are not, which is rather the point. Clean Best documents your access arrangement in writing — key, lockbox, building fob, alarm code, whatever it is — and the same named cleaner uses it every visit. Access details are held securely and shared with nobody who does not need them. We do not leave keys under mats and we do not text alarm codes around, and any company that does should worry you.
Can you do the oven and the inside of the windows?
Clean Best offers oven cleaning, fridge interiors, inside window cleaning and other detail work as periodic lines rather than every-visit items, because doing them weekly would be a waste of your money. They get scheduled on a cycle you choose and quoted separately, so you can see exactly what each costs and drop or add one without renegotiating the whole arrangement.
Is there a minimum term?
No. Clean Best cleans Alexandria homes on a rolling arrangement — change the frequency, skip a week, pause for a holiday, or stop with thirty days notice. The price is fixed and given to you in writing before the first clean, after a free walkthrough of the actual home. Nobody should be locked into a domestic cleaning contract, and a company that wants you to be is telling you something about how it expects to perform.
